2024 IPA All-Star Game At Tuckanarra
TU Stars Edge RU Stars 5-4
At Tuckanarra's Central Park Stadium, the Tycobbian All-Stars took a squeaker from the Ruthlandian All-Stars 5-4 on Bucky O'Brian's (Mahaska) sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth... it was the TU Stars 18th win in the 24-game series and their fourth consecutive victory... however, the TU Stars trailed 3-0 after 4 innings, but came back to win it in the late innings.
Ruthlandia took a 1-0 lead in the first inning... SS Johnny Madigan (Kilkenny) led off with a double and came in to score on 1B Garris Aiken's (Glasco) single... they upped it to 3-0 in the fourth frame... a RF Randall Hawson (Sugar Valley) single and a two-bagger by Allan Lemay (Claxton) placed runners on second and third with one away... 3B Eddie Darby got Hawson in with an RBI ground-out, followed by CF Roy Hobbs' (Waleska) double... Tycobbia came alive in the top of the fifth and tied the score at 3-all on a 2-run double by 2B Leander Burks (Red Bluff) and a double by CF Dennis Hartwig (Oxford)... 1B Jack Elliott (High Mesa) homered to put the TU Stars in front 4-3 in the top of the fifth... Ruthlandia came back and evened it up at 4-4 in the seventh on a lead-off single by LF Carlton Curtis, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI single by 2B Jan Kessinger (Sugar Valley).
Reliever Alfonso Gonzales (Rolling Hills) picked up the win with a 1-2-3 eighth... J. D. McDermott (East Point) closed it out for the save, but the RU All-Stars put two runners on first and third with two two-out singles before he finished them off... Tiny Ladrieux (Belle Plaine) caught the loss as he allowed 1 runs on 2 hits in the top of the ninth... Ruthlandian outhit Tycobbia 10-8 in the game with Madigan and 2B Jan Kessinger (Sugar Valley) getting 2 hits apiece... Derek Yurek (Hartsdale) drilled a pair of hits to lead the winners.
