Gene Green 1957 - Washington Senators
I fell in love with baseball in 1961, the expansion Senators' inaugural season. Gene Green was the primary catcher for that team, and he hit 18 home runs (6 at home, 12 on the road) despite playing in Griffith Stadium (where I saw my first-ever big league game). After the season, the Nats bundled Green and their best pitcher, Dick Donovan (who had just led the AL in ERA) and sent them to Cleveland for Jimmy Piersall, who hated Washington.
