Tuesday, May 19th, 1891: Cleveland's Cap Anson collected his 2000th career base hit, but Chicago collected the win. The White Sox ruined his special day by knocking off the Spiders 5-4. The 39-year-old first baseman reached the milestone by going 1-for-5 in the game.

Anson is hitting .280 lifetime with 2000 hits, 281 doubles, 109 triples, 35 home runs and 955 RBIs to date. He has scored 1160 runs, walked 412 times and has a .319 OBP.
