News
Richardson, Wagenhorst Swap Teams
Tuesday, June 2nd, 1891: The Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles have put the finishing touches on a deal that was weeks in the making. Chicago will part with 28-year-old second baseman Danny Richardson, while the Orioles have dealt 27-year-old third baseman Woody Wagenhorst. "This one took a while to figure out," said the Chicago general manager. "We must have gone back to the drawing board five or six times over the past few weeks. I'm glad we finally got the deal done. I think it is a good one for both clubs."

Richardson is presently hitting at a .351 pace with no home runs, 8 RBIs and has scored 6 times.

Thus far in 1891 Wagenhorst is hitting .167 with no home runs, 0 RBIs, 1 run scored and has compiled a .286 OBP.

Colonels Swap Schriver to Beaneaters for Williamson
Tuesday, June 2nd, 1891: The Louisville Colonels swapped 25-year-old catcher Pop Schriver and 19-year-old third baseman Will Smalley for 33-year-old third baseman Ned Williamson of the Beaneaters after what Boston officials would only characterize as "difficult" negotiations.

In his season totals, Schriver has no home runs, .261 BA, .307 OBP, 18 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has played in 35 games.

This year Williamson has no home runs and a .077 batting average.

Athletics Deal Boyle to Colts for Young
Thursday, June 4th, 1891:
The Athletics and Colts confirmed this afternoon that a trade had been agreed upon. In the deal, Philadelphia will get 24-year-old starting pitcher Cy Young, while Chicago will receive 25-year-old catcher Jack Boyle.

In his career Boyle has hit .226 with 122 hits, 20 doubles, 4 triples and 4 home runs. His totals also include 52 RBIs and 76 runs scored.

Weyhing 'Dealing with Personal Issues', Leaves Team Indefinitely
Friday, June 5th, 1891: Boston starting pitcher Gus Weyhing will miss an indefinite period of time to tend to "personal issues". Weyhing refused to elaborate on what exactly the issues were, but added that they were "more important than baseball, that's for sure". Americans manager Arturo García commented that they will "expect to be without Weyhing for quite some time and that we'll have to plan long-term to be without him".

Star Crossed: Daly, Crawford Switch Teams
Saturday, June 6th, 1891: BNN is reporting a big deal in the making between Detroit and the Baltimore Orioles. Reliable sources inside the Tigers camp told them a trade was imminent and would be announced today. According to BNN, Detroit would send 25-year-old catcher Tom Daly and 22-year-old reliever Jeremiah Reardon to Baltimore and in return would get 28-year-old shortstop George Crawford. The players involved in the swap were contacted and told BNN it was news to them. One player said, "Sorry, I couldn't help... I haven't heard a thing... We are usually the last ones to know."

This year Daly is hitting .227 with 1 home run.

In 29 games this season Crawford is batting .256 with 21 hits and 1 home run. He has scored 10 runs and driven in 13.
