Baseball America Top 100 Prospects List Published
Monday, April 4th, 1898: The season is about to start, so it's time for Baseball America to publish the annual Top 100 Prospects list. This year 21-year-old catcher Frank Chance of the Louisville Colonels is the #1 prospect overall.

Joe Werrick Says Farewell to Baseball
Tuesday, April 5th, 1898: Sources close to the Detroit Tigers report that second baseman Joe Werrick will retire once the season is over.

In his all-time stats Werrick is hitting .272 with 704 hits, 22 home runs, 362 runs scored and 355 RBIs.

Clements Reaches 2000
Saturday, April 9th, 1898: Jack Clements reached the 2000-hit milestone this afternoon at Bennett Park. The 33-year-old Tigers catcher went 1-for-3 in a losing effort in the Detroit 10-1 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Athletics.

His numbers show Clements is carrying a .308 lifetime batting average with 150 home runs and 1134 RBIs.
