'26 Pro Cup Begins Thursday
The regular season is now history. The Pro Cup playoff season will get underway this Thursday with the IPA Elite 8 - the best 8 teams in the Islands will take on each other to decide who will get the much-cherished Pro Cup. Most divisions were decided long ago. There was only one real race this year. That was in the Tycobbian South where Ginza held off Colchester in the final days to win by one scant game. Tuckanarra fended off defending Pro Cup titlist South Fork by 5 games in the TU East. Rolling Hills got the best of Bay St. Clair by 8 games in the TU West, while Mahaska put away Fairfax by 7 in the TU North.

No close races in the Ruthlandian Union either. Valmara ravaged Ancona by 11 games in the RU North and Middlefield mauled Stoner by 11 games in the RU West. Beechwood had an unbelievable second half, going 66-20 to beat Wynnamac by 9 games in the RU East. The Bobcats are the hottest team in baseball. And the darling of the IPA this season, the St. John Crusaders, did the unlikely - they rose up from seventh place last year to the top spot this year and knocked off heavily-favored Waleska in the RU South by 8 games.

Three clubs are repeaters from last season: Middlefield, which lost in the Pro Cup Finals to South Fork in an exciting 7-game set, mighty Tuckanarra, back after a year's absence and Ginza. The Tucks won the Pro Cup in 2023 and 2024. The Ruthlandian pairings in the IPA Elite 8 this season are cinderella St. John opening up at home against the Valmara Vipers and the red-hot Beechwood Bobcats hosting the powerful Middlefield Roosters. In Tycobbia it'll be upstart Mahaska traveling to tough Ginza and Rolling Hills on the road in Tuckanarra. All postseason series are best-of-seven in the Islandian Pro Alliance.
