1903 Preseason

Done Deal: Chiles for Sheehan
Tuesday, February 10th, 1903: It won't turn either team into an instant contender or provide a huge franchise shakeup, but the Detroit Tigers and Washington Senators finalized a trade today. Detroit will send 35-year-old right fielder Pearce Chiles to the Senators, while the Tigers will receive 25-year-old shortstop Tommy Sheehan. "We think this is a deal that will help out both teams and we're glad to get it done," said the Tigers general manager). The trade is expected to be officially completed later today with the players to join their new ball clubs by the end of the day.

In 488 career games, Chiles has put up a .306 average, collected 155 doubles, 29 triples, and 17 home runs, driven in 356 runs, and scored 306 times.
