Rovers Trim Bobcats 7-6, Force 7th Game
It was a seesaw affair in game six of the RU Elite 8 Series at City Park Stadium in Beechwood, where the visiting Sligo Rovers trimmed the Bobcats 7-6... Beechwood started off on fire with 3 first-inning scores, but Sligo regained it 5-3 by the sixth... the Bobcats took the lead once again 6-5 after 8 frames, only to lose it in the top of the ninth on back-to-back doubles by Johnny Sackett and Biff Blauer that evened it up at 6-6, followed by 3B Manny Alou's RBI fielder's choice... Alou beat the throw to first on a double play attempt, getting the game-winning run in... Lou Page (2-0 2.50) got the win, but it was tough going... Page surrendered 9 hits and 6 runs in a complete game, struck out 8 and walked 2... in the ninth Dennis Moody (0-1) not only blew the save, but lost the game...
