Chicago 1910 North American Series Champions
Monday, October 24th, 1910: Chicago topped St. Louis 9-7 today at West Side Park II to win the North American BaseBall League North American Series. The Cubs took the series 4-2.

"This victory belonged to the entire city of Chicago and all our great fans," said the team's owner as he hoisted the championship trophy for the 2nd time. "Our town and our fans support us all the time...in the good times and the bad."

Thursday, October 27th, 1910: Earlier today, officials from the Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Senators announced that they had finalized negotiations on a trade between the two teams. The deal will send 37-year-old left fielder Tuck Turner and a 3rd round draft pick to Washington in exchange for 29-year-old second baseman Neal Ball and 23-year-old shortstop Ed Hearne.

During his career Turner has chalked up 3108 hits and a .319 average with 70 home runs and 1540 RBIs.

Looking at his career numbers, Ball has played in 303 games with a .261 batting average. Among his 251 hits are 44 doubles, 12 triples and 2 home runs. He also has scored 156 runs and driven in 107 runs.

NABL News: First-Year Player Draft
Tuesday, November 1st, 1910: It's draft day in the NABL. Clubs across the circuit will be trying to outmaneuver one another, hoping to conceal their most coveted picks until the last second. Once the action starts, though, all the mock drafts and predictions are out the window, and it's anybody's guess who will end up where. Grabbing the first picks are: Cincinnati, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Detroit. BNN predicts the first ten players selected will be:

Sunday, November 6th, 1910: Vin Campbell of the Giants had a good year during 1910. In his debut season the New York left fielder hit .378 on his way to the Newcomer of the Year Award.

Campbell collected 174 hits with 9 home runs, 81 RBIs and 116 runs scored.

AL's Top Rookie Acclaimed
Sunday, November 6th, 1910: The American League Newcomer of the Year Award has been given to Jake Daubert of the St. Louis Browns.

In the 1910 season the 26-year-old first baseman played in 119 games, recording a .297 batting average with 7 home runs, 79 RBIs and 71 runs scored.

NL Best Mound Performer Named
Tuesday, November 8th, 1910:
The National League made the official announcement today. The 1910 National League Outstanding Pitcher Award has gone to Mordecai Brown of Brooklyn.

He had a superlative season, chalking up a 26-11 won-lost mark with an impressive 2.86 ERA.

Brown logged 39 starts, threw 324.1 innings, yielded 362 hits, struck out 105 and held the opposition to a .269 batting average.

AL Names Outstanding Pitcher Award Winner
Tuesday, November 8th, 1910: The Outstanding Pitcher Award for 1910 has been presented and the American League winner is Joe Wood of Philadelphia.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Wood. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Athletics star told reporters.

Wood excelled with an impressive 22-11 record in 36 starts. In 318.2 innings he yielded 287 hits and 80 walks, while striking out 160 and compiling a fine 2.12 ERA.

Ty Cobb Chosen AL's Top Batter
Wednesday, November 9th, 1910: It's been a year of triumph for veteran Ty Cobb of the Boston Red Sox as he hit his way to the 1910 American League Outstanding Hitter Award.

The 23-year-old veteran compiled a .421 average and .484 on-base percentage by putting together 271 hits, 58 doubles, 20 triples, 13 home runs and 84 walks. He also scored 182 times and drove in 122 runs.

NL's Top Hitter for 1910 Named
Wednesday, November 9th, 1910: His teammates, fans and peers all agree that Eddie Collins is worthy of the 1910 National League Outstanding Hitter Award. Today, the voters made it official.

The Chicago shortstop was a bonafide success as he racked up a .399 average, 244 hits, 34 doubles, 29 triples, 7 home runs, 147 RBIs, 159 runs, 70 walks and a .453 OBP.
