St.Vrain Twirls No-Hitter Against Tigers
Monday, August 9th, 1915: Is it better to be good -- or lucky? After his 2-0 no-hitter over the Detroit Tigers he responded, "I don't know," said Washington's Jim St.Vrain with a grin. "To do what I did, I guess it takes both."

On his historic day at Griffith Stadium I St.Vrain made good pitches the entire game, fanned 3 and had 3 walks. When the Tigers hit the ball hard, they hit it right at someone for an out.

But that's how you get a no-hitter -- a lot of skill mixed with a little luck.

This year his stats show St.Vrain has no saves in no relief appearances with a 20-8 record and 1.65 ERA.
