Cincinnati, Washington Make Trade
Monday, July 16th, 1917

Cincinnati and Washington announced today in a joint press conference that 31-year-old third baseman Jimmy Walsh will be going to the Senators in exchange for 28-year-old left fielder Ned Crompton and 22-year-old center fielder Charlie Babington. "It'll be exciting to join a new organization," one player said. "Some of us could use a fresh start." The players have each passed physicals and are expected to report by day's end.

Walsh is batting at a .293 pace this season, picking up 29 hits in 99 at-bats with 1 home run, 12 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
