Some of my notes:
Only league I've played in 13 so far: Custom historical league starting 1871, realistic financials, rookies, some minor rule tweaks (dhs, number of foreigners in foreign leagues etc). Full Majors, minors, College and High school feeder, all foreign leagues from stock game with stock league setups. (just trying to see how my computer would run with a full running baseball world- works pretty good!)
Some have been touched on, others I couldn't find anything on,
News messages cut off on bottom for player stats/pics (repeat)
An injured player, SP, a few days before the end of the season, (ML-1880 Brooklyn Atlantics), pending diagnosis. End of season comes and start of playoffs, then diagnsois is 6 months. No problem. Except that after I put him on the DL he was still in my Pitching Lineup and the Pitcher moved up from AAA was not visible. Injured player was listed in red and was not available to play, but left me a player short. Still won, but is a bug. (I think this was kinda touched on a few posts up the page).
I started in minors with no financial control, changed to a TPBL team with some control. I noticed about 6 years in, around 1877, that when I was able to sign free agents, there were astronomical values assigned. I had not altered ANY financial settings, including media contracts, stadiums, ticket prices, etc. at this time. Average player on teams ran from 75 to 200 dollars, FA top players were in 10,000+ range. This got worse as I played out and signed with Brooklyn in 1779. No team could afford the players, yet some how they kept getting signed. Don't know how.
I also noticed, may not be a big issue, that most good pitchers were not rated high. Most of the ones I had success with I searched for specific ratings and skill settings but usually less than a 3 star prospect. Both my rookie of the year ML pitchers that I won World Series with were one star prospects. This early in history, maybe hitting plays a big affect, I don't know, but most of my 4 or 5 star pitchers do not perform as well and usually wound up in the minors.
Also noted the AI tends to put a lot of players in positions they are not very good at for their bat, even when overall strategy settings are set to defense. I had a TON of errors until I figured out what was going on and had to reasign players and set player strategy to make it better.
Thanks, for putting together a fantastic time waster that keeps me from getting the quality sleep I desparatley need from day to day.
Plays great by the way! Bought OOTP off and on for years since the second or third one over ten years ago. Best Bang for the buck in games!
