Lem Stops Elnora 4-1, Valmara Takes Opener
In game one of the Ruthlandian Final 4 at War Memorial Stadium in Valmara, the Vipers ace Teddy Lem mowed down the Elnora All-Stars 4-1 on a 6-hitter and Reno DiBenedetto walloped a pair of homers and batted in 3 runs... Lem (2-0/1.50) walked only one and whiffed 5, while pitching a complete game... CF DiBenedetto (.452) led the Vipers with 3 hits in 4 at-bats... Lucien Vachon (2-1/2.38) went the distance and lost for the first time in the playoffs... Valmara got to him for 4 runs and 7 hits.

Reds Trip Ninjas 5-3 In Game 1
Errol Gaudet of the Rolling Hills Reds showed his stuff in the opening game of the Tycobbian Union Final 4 with a 5-3 victory over the red-hot Ginza Ninjas at the Midtown Base Ball Grounds... Gaudet (1-1/2.28) went all the way checking them on 3 runs and 6 hits... the Reds backed up Gaudet with some slick defense and turned three double plays... Rolling Hills had a 2-1 lead and broke the game open with 3 runs in the sixth frame, highlighted by Terry Wade's 2-run double.
Heading up the Reds 11-hit attack was SS Jeff Booker (.381) with 4 hits and Billy Christianson (.375) with 3... RF Terry Wade (.333) delivered 2 RBIs... and 3B Billy Jones (.500) and LF Scotty Yiska (.190) batted in a run apiece... 3B Johnny O'Rorke (.200) cracked 2 hits and scored twice to lead the Ninjas... not only was losing pitcher Harlan Wilson (2-1/3.24) hit hard for 11 hits, he was also wild with 5 walks... Wilson permitted all 5 runs in his 7 innings.
