Philadelphia Goes Hitless Against Pfeffer
Friday, July 25th, 1919

The Washington Senators and their fans had a lot to celebrate today as 31-year-old hurler Jeff Pfeffer no-hit the Philadelphia Athletics 7-0 at Griffith Stadium I.

"He mixed his pitches well, hit his spots...and got some help from above," said his pitching coach. "Jeff really took it to another level today."

On his record-setting day Pfeffer had 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.

His manager added, "I don't remember a better pitched game. And how about our defense, too. We played some good 'D' today."

This year Pfeffer has made 14 starts, thrown 135.2 innings, fanned 36 batters and walked 30. His won-lost record is 8-6 with a 2.85 ERA.
