Ruth Makes History with Home Run

If chicks dig the long ball, then they're loving Babe Ruth right now. The Brooklyn Robins' right fielder broke the single-season record for home runs with a blast at Robison Field. It was homer number 29 for Ruth this year. The previous mark was held by Denny Lyons.
Babe Ruth walked in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd and homered off Chief Johnson in the 5th.
Ruth on the season is batting .313 with 29 home runs. His totals include 71 RBIs and 86 runs scored. He has played in 111 games.

Sisler 1919 NL Batting Champ

Pittsburgh's George Sisler completed the season in style by winning the National League batting crown. He claimed the coveted title by hitting a solid .365 for the year. The gifted 26-year-old Pirates first baseman chalked up 206 hits during the season with 7 home runs, 58 RBIs and 92 runs scored.
AL Batting Title Goes to Cleveland's Bassler

Congratulations are in order for Cleveland catcher Johnny Bassler as he was presented with the 1919 American League batting title yesterday at a special awards ceremony. Bassler was honored for his league-leading .362 average. He collected 145 hits in 400 at-bats, including 14 doubles, 6 triples and 1 home run. The 24-year-old Bassler also had 56 RBIs and scored 72 runs.
