2031 IPA Pro Cup Final Series - Game 2 at War Memorial Stadium in Valmara
Reds Romp Over Vipers 7-3 In Game 2
Rolling Hills put it all together in game two of the IPA Pro Cup championship series at War Memorial Stadium in Valmara and came away with a 7-3 win in 10 innings to even up at a game each... the Vipers took game one 5-1... the Reds snapped a 3-3 tie with 4 runs in the tenth frame... the primary hit came on a 2-run double by C Tony Brinkerhoff (.278)... a couple of insurance runs were added on 3B Jeff Booker's (.275) fielder's choice and 2B Derek Kristensen's (.262) single.
Rolling Hills got quality pitching and 12 hits, including 7 doubles and a homer... Tom Pierson hurled the first 6 frames and gave up only one unearned run and one hit... the Reds led 3-1 when he left the game for a pinchhitter... Pierson struck out 5 and walked 2... Buck Myers (3-1/5.87) blew the save in the ninth, but got credit for the victory, working 3 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs... Myers couldn't hold a 3-1 lead, going into Valmara's final at-bat... Maury Cantrell (1-1/3.09) held the Vipers scoreless in the tenth to close out the game... Brinkerhoff (.278) sparked the Reds with a homer, double and 3 runs batted in... 3B Jeff Booker (.275) had 2 RBIs... Valmara starter Garry Gronek (2-3/2.80) was effective... he held the Reds to 3 runs and 8 hits in 9 innings with 7 Ks and no walks... the loss went to closer Ivan Guzek (1-2/7.00), who was laced for 4 hits and 4 runs in the tenth.
