1878 brings two 300 game winners into the league, with Charley 'Old Hoss' Radbourn the first. Radbourn won 309 games in 11 seasons, and hold the record with 59 wins in a season after going 59-12 with a 1.38 ERA. Radbourn was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1939.
Mickey Welch was the third pitcher to reach 300 wins, finishing his career with a 307-210 record. Welch was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1973 by the Veteran's Committee.
