A particularly egregious instance of the earned run bug:
Two out, nobody on. Batter #1 hits a triple. Batter #2 hits a single. There can be no more straightforward instance of a run being earned. Yet this run was scored as unearned. Why?
Because the outfielder flubbed the pickup, allowing Batter #2 to go from first to second. What this tells me is that the game engine, at the end of the play, adds up the number of errors and the number of outs, and if it gets to three all runs that scored on that play and on any subsequent play are going to be unearned.
To put it mildly, that's not how it works in real life, and it leads to ridiculous situations like this one, where a triple followed by a single somehow constitutes an unearned run.
