Goslin Bats .401 for the Year
Monday, October 3rd, 1927
It might look like a typo in this season's stats reports. But the .401 next to the name of Goose Goslin is no mistake. That's his batting average for the recently completed season. Goslin is the newest member of baseball's .400 club.
The Boston left fielder tried to downplay the achievement. "It's just a number," he said. Then he admitted with a grin: "Okay, it's a big number!"
That number puts Goslin in the record books with some of the game's great players.
His other stats during this remarkable season include 250 hits, 35 doubles, 24 triples, 15 home runs, 134 runs and 114 RBIs.
