Saturday, November 24th, 1928
It won't turn either team into an instant contender or provide a huge franchise shakeup, but the Philadelphia Athletics and Washington Senators finalized a trade today. Philadelphia will send 32-year-old catcher Johnny Schulte to the Senators, while the Athletics will receive 25-year-old second baseman Carl Lind and 24-year-old minor league center fielder Max West. "We think this is a deal that will help out both teams and we're glad to get it done," said the Athletics general manager). The trade is expected to be officially completed later today with the players to join their new ball clubs by the end of the day.
Over his 302-game career Schulte has compiled a .260 batting average and collected 251 hits, 24 home runs and 164 RBIs.
In his 204-game career Lind has hit .288 with 198 hits, 2 home runs, and 63 RBIs and has scored 83 runs.
