NL Batting Title Goes to Philadelphia's Dickey

The best batter in the National League in 1930 was Bill Dickey of Philadelphia. He earned the the batting title with 222 hits in 591 at-bats for a .376 average, outpacing all his peers. Playing in 135 games, the 23-year-old catcher also chalked up 49 doubles, 13 triples, 12 home runs, 113 RBIs and scored 103 runs.

It's official: Rogers Hornsby has landed the coveted American League batting title for 1930. The St. Louis second baseman outpaced the competition with a .370 batting average. In all, Hornsby tallied 228 hits, including 40 doubles, 5 triples and 26 home runs. He also scored 118 times and knocked in 108 runs.
