Being a rookie is irrelevant. Do you propose to eliminate rookies from consideration? If not, then the discussion is moot. Trout performed better in a tougher division against better competition and started late. Cabrera's numbers are nowhere near historic. He simply was the best in three categories where two of them are not useful in establishing his value. To me the Triple Crown appears to have fogged the minds of otherwise intelligent Baseball observers. 
To suggest that Trout should be overlooked because he has "other" years is... well.... I won't say it.
