2002 San Francisco Giants vs 2002 Anaheim Angels

Game 1
At Edison International Field

2002 Giants..................2
2002 Angels..................4
WP: J. Washburn
LP: R. Ortiz
S: T. Percival
HR: R. Sanders, T. Salmon
02 Angels lead series 1-0

Tim Salmon hit a two run bomb in the 6th inning ot give the Angels the lead for good. Jarrod Washburn was tough all night and the Angels bullpen closed the door late to get Anaheim off to the quick start. Barry Bonds went 2-3 on the night.

Game 2
At Edison International Field

2002 Giants...............3
2002 Angels...............0
WP: J. Schmidt
LP: K. Appier
HR: J. Kent
Series tied at 1

NO HITTER!! NO HITTER!! Jason Schmidt on the biggest stage there is pitches a no hitter and is brilliant against the Angels. He walks only three men and never seemed out of sync striking out seven. Jeff Kent hit a home run and Reggie Sanders scored two runs but it was Schmidt who was the magnificent today. The only no hitter so far in this entire tournament.

Game 3
At Pac Bell Park

2002 Angels.................7
2002 Giants.................3
WP: A. Sele
LP: L. Hernandez
S: T. Percival
HR: S. Spiezio, B. Santiago
02 Angels lead series 2-1

Troy Glaus went 4-4 and Scott Spiezio hit a two run home run as the Angels put the no hitter behind them and took the lead in the series again. Aaron Sele struck out three and went 7 strong in a no nonsense win for the Angels.

Game 4
At Pac Bell Park

2002 Angels................4
2002 Giants................5
WP: R. Jensen
LP: B. Donnelly
S: R. Nen
HR: G. Anderson
Series tied at 2

Twelve hits are not enough for the Angels who come up short. Down a run in the bottom of the 8th, Tom Goodwin doubled in two runs and the lead would hold for Rob Nen in the 9th. It seems as if these two teams could play eachother 100 times and everygame would be a nailbiter.

Game 5
At Pac Bell Park

2002 Angels..................1
2002 Giants..................0 (10 inn)
WP: T. Percival
LP: R. Nen
HR: None
02 Angels lead series 3-2

John Lackey and Ryan Vogelsong started it, and the bullpen continues an impressive pitchers day. The game was tied at zero before Orlando Palmiero doubled off of Rob Nen in the 10th to drive in a run. Troy Percival closed the door including a game ending strike out of Jeff Kent. Heading home the Angels are one game away.

Game 6
At Edison International Field

2002 Giants...............4
2002 Angels...............9
WP: J. Washburn
LP: R. Ortiz
S: B. Donnelly
HR: None
02 Angels win series 4-2

Three errors for the Giants who dug themselves a hole as Adam Kennedy went 3-5 with two RBI and Orlando Palmiero again drove in two. Jarrod Washburn was just good enough and the Angels get it done at home to move to the quarterfinals.
