1906 Chicago Cubs vs 1936 New York Yankees

Game 1
At Yankee Stadium

A one hitter by Lefty Gomez is the perfect start for the Yankees. Gomez struck out five and went the distance allowing only a single to Jimmy Slagle. Franckie Crosetti had a two run double against Three Finger Brown who pitched well but couldnt match the magic of Gomez in the big game.

Game 2
At Yankee Stadium

Series tied at 1

A tie game in the 7th inning broke wide open as the Cubs scored four in the inning and broke away for a win. Frank Chance went 3-4 and drove in three runs while Joe Tinker had two RBI in the win. Three Yankee errors did not help the cause as well.

At West Side Grounds

36 Yankees lead series 2-1

The Yankees finally broke out against the Cubs and won despite their four errors. Red Rolfe went 4-4 and scored three runs while Bill Dickey drove in four runs. Joe DiMaggio is batting .417 in the first three games as Ed Ruelbach had very little in this outing.

Series tied at 2

Frank Chance continues to be read hot and goes 3-4 with 3 mote RBI in the crucial Cubs win. Carl Lundgren held the Yankees back even though he walked six men. The Cubs scored three in the first two innings against Johnny Broaca and held on.

06 Cubs lead series 3-2

The Cubs won a game that may have turned the series. Down two runs in the bottom of the 9th with two out, Johnny Evers doubled in two runs to tie the game at the death. Both teams threatened to score but in the 12th Frank Schulte singled scoring Frank Chance from third for the winning run. A huge turn in the tide of the series as another Yankee team may be on the way out.

At Yankee Stadium

06 Cubs win series 4-2

Seventeen hits for the Cub against Red Ruffing and they put the nail in the series with a huge win at the Stadium. Frank Chance hit .458 for the series with eight RBI.
