they've all (i have 4 of them...its my team) been on the 40-man since they were signed as free agents, and have never been waived. they've only played in the minors, but they've always been on the 40-man. it comes into play right now because its spring training, they were promoted to the bigs because they are on the 40-man, and can't be sent down (without first being waived) because the game is saying they have no option years remaining. they're good prospects...if i waive them they'll for sure be claimed, they're just not major-league ready, and my team is a contender. carrying 4 not-ready guys would really hurt my team. we're just trying to figure out how players with only 2.0 years as professionals could have possibly used up 3 option years.
