Plus, a player uses the option when they are sent down each season. A player can be brought up/down numerous times each year while using 1 option. So IF an option was charged at the beginning of the 3rd season they would still be able to be demoted/promoted during the season.
Did the online league you are in upgrade from v12 at some point or was it a new v13 league? Were these players originally signed in v12?
The reason I ask is I reported a bug back in v12 that was fixed in v13 where Option years were miscalculated. This sounds like this could be the case here.
