From limited experience a MR with good stamina can start successfully if neither of his pitches is a fastball. I have a MR who started most of last season going 12-2 with a 2.31 ERA, averaging almost 7 IP per game. His pitches are sinker and circlechange.
There seems to be no penalty for starting a MR, so I would leave him a MR even when changing him to starter. I took a 4/5 MR that was pitching well and changed him to a SP. His rating dropped to 1/2 star and he did not pitch as well. I have decided that stamina is one of the key stats I look at in evaluating a your pitcher, along with G/F% and movement potential.
