Bucs McBride Top TU Twirler
After three quality seasons in the IPA, Bay St. Clair right hander Jim McBride stepped it up a notch or two and soared to new heights with a marvelous 25-10 record to snap up his first Tycobbian Golden Arm Award. In a hotly-contested vote McBride bested two strong candidates Bobby Reid of Tuckanarra and Dave Michael of North Hills for the coveted honor as the best pitcher in the Tycobbian Union.
With McBride leading the way, the Bay St. Clair Buccaneers ran third in the TU West. McBride, 28, led the IPA in shutouts with 8. He went the distance 23 times and carded a 2.34 ERA. In his four years McBride is 62-39 in his career with a 2.81 ERA.
Tuckanarra's Bobby Reid was a very close second to McBride in The Islandian Times Golden Arm polling. Reid went 25-8 with a 2.59 ERA for the first place Blue Jays, who won the TU East.
Running a very close third was Dave Michael of the Pro Cup champion North Hills Hawks. Michael tied with J. J. Gillespie of the Cold Creek Catamounts for the most victories in the IPA with a 26-13 record and had a 2.80 ERA.
