Ruiz has been diagnosed with a strained hamstring, he will be out 5 weeks, a season ending industry unless we go deep into the playoffs.
Next Week: 2 vs. San Francisco (75-70), 3 @ Jacksonville (59-86), 1 vs. Washington (84-61)
The week brought mixed reviews, a three game sweep of first place Tampa, followed by a three game sweep by last place Austin. All told we gained one game in the division and one game in the Wild Card. The division title is likely out of reach, but we are right there for the Wild Card.
Appointed Mauro Ojeda and Joe Powers as the manager and hitting coach of the AAA Louisville. Demoted the Gerardo Espinoza and Dave Tyler to R Minneapolis, Tyler will be let go at the end of the season. Espinoza has one year left on his contract. We offered Powers a 2-year extension at $450,000 although he is looking for 5 years at $610,000 which is pretty steep, but we will see.
