Snider Pounds 3 HR Against Athletics
Tuesday, April 29th, 1947
Philadelphia won't soon forget the display of raw power put on today by Duke Snider of the Cleveland Indians. He victimized the Athletics by pounding three pitches out of Cleveland Stadium. The homers sparked his club to a 6-5 win and got him a spot in the league record book.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," Snider told reporters. "Today I was in a groove ... tomorrow I could just pop up the same pitches and go oh-for-three."
In addition to the homers, he collected 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
Duke Snider hit a solo-shot off Jack Wilson in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jack Wilson in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jack Wilson in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
Snider is hitting .500 this year with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has 8 hits in 16 at-bats, no walks and a .500 on-base percentage. Snider has played in 10 games.
