HAWKS HURLER OWENS PRO CUP MVP
Jeff Owens, the ace of the newly-crowned IPA champion North Hills Hawks, narrowly was voted the top player in the Pro Cup playoffs. Owens was 4-1 in his six postseason starts with an excellent 1.99 ERA. His biggest competition came from three of his teammates, Kiril Ivonoski, Ric Hamilton and Gerry Rice.

Owens was the high vote-getter with 28 in The Islandian Times Pro Cup Most Valuable Player poll. Second baseman Kiril Ivonoski was second with 26 votes, first baseman Ric Hamilton came in third with 25 and right fielder Gerry Rice was fourth with 20. Two St. John Crusaders were fifth and sixth in the balloting. Pitcher Jeremy Kirk received 17 votes and right fielder Nick Faruggia got 12.

Ivonoski batted .407 with one homer, 10 RBIs and scored 12 runs in 14 postseason games. Hamilton hit .348 with 2 roundtrippers, 12 RBIs and 7 runs in his 17 games. Rice posted a .400 BA along with a 11 RBIs and 5 runs in 14 contests. Kirk was superb in the playoffs with a 4-2 record and a 1.98 ERA in 7 starts. In 17 games Farrugia led the Crusaders at the plate with 4 homers, 9 RBIs, 13 runs and a .348 BA.
