CATS WHITAKER RU TOP TWIRLER
The ride has been fabulous for 33-year-old Dave Whitaker, famed pitcher for the Kilkenny Cats. In 14 IPA seasons he has cranked out 264 wins for a fairly lackluster team, captured one Ruthlandian MVP Award and claimed several Golden Arm honors. This season Whitaker added a third Ruthlandian Golden Arm trophy to his collection. He was named the best hurler in the league in a poll by The Islandian Times. Whitaker almost paced Kilkenny to its first pennant and first Pro Cup playoffs, but they were beaten out by two games by the LaGrange Sports in the RU North Division. The able righthander chalked up a 23-11 record with a superlative 2.01 ERA. This is the seventh time in his career to win 20 games. Whitaker struck out 231 in 331 innings, posted 5 shutouts and completed 25 games.

Cold Creek's J. J. Gillespie ran number two in the poll. He led his Catamounts to the RU East title with a 20-12 mark with a fantastic 1.97 ERA, which was the best in the IPA. Gillespie has won the Golden Arm three times in his career.

Josh Wilkerson of the Sugar Valley Rattlers was number three in the balloting with a very impressive 23-7 record and a 2.83 ERA. The Rattlers lost the pennant in a one-game playoff to Cold Creek. Wilkerson really blossomed at age 34 after spending four obscure years in the Southport bullpen in the Tycobbian Union. Wilkerson was a solid reliever in 2035 for Sugar Valley and won a starting spot this year.

TU PICKS TUCKS' BRISTOW AS GOLDEN ARM
The biggest winner in IPA circles this season was named the Tycobbian Union Golden Arm of the year. Young Junior Bristow topped the circuit with 25 victories and just 9 losses and led the Tuckanarra Blue Jays to a third successive TU East Division crown. Bristow is the son of IPA Hall-of-Famer Titus Bristow, who ranks fifth in league history with 342 wins. The 25-year-old is following right in his father's footsteps. He has won 20 or more games in each of this first three seasons. This year Bristow totaled 216 Ks in 313 innings with a 2.96 ERA, 4 shutouts and 21 complete games. Bristow was the recipient of the Tycobbian MVP trophy last season.

The Golden Arm runner-up this year was La Claire ace Pat Kovacs, who had another exceptional campaign with a 20-9 mark and a 2.49 ERA. Kovacs was a prime ingredient in the Lynx's third-place finish in the TU West.

Winding up in third place in the voting was Jeff Owens of the IPA champion North Hills Hawks. After drifting through 7 years in anonymity in the Hawks' relief corps, Owens finally got a chance to start in 2033 and had modest success with a 12-11 record. The last 3 seasons he has piled up nothing but 20-win seasons and helped his club to two Pro Cups and 3 division flags. This year at age 30 Owens racked up a 23-12 record with a 2.99 ERA.
