In my OOTP13 MLB quickstart game (imported into 14 before the 2019 season), I signed an outfielder to fill out my Triple-A roster before the season. I had Carlos Gonzalez and my stud outfielder, Henry Moyer, both go down with injuries after the all-star break. I called up this guy I had signed and he hit over .300 with 10-plus homers and a handful of stolen bases in about 40 games, helping me get the second wild card spot. Totally unexpected out of him.
