What If the Houston Astros started back in 1871???
Next up in the What If??? series is the Houston Astros... The team was started back in 1871 as the Houston Texians named for what the early Texas settlers were referred to as "Texians"... They stayed as the Texians until 1920 when they would change their name to the "Roughnecks" referring to the hard and rough men that worked in the oilfields in nearby Spindletop... They continued as the Roughnecks through the 1950 season... In 1951 they would undergo yet another name change... They would now be known as the Colt 45's... The team would continue as the 45's until 1965 when they would be known forever after as the Houston Astros....
