1982 - Crazy Game!

The Chicago White Sox were feeling confident after a big 5-run bottom of the 7th to take a 8-4 lead over the Boston Red Sox. Then, things got crazy. The Red Sox responded in the top of the 8th with 4 big runs to tie up the game at 8 a piece. After holding the White Sox scoreless in the bottom of the 8th, the Red Sox doubled their 8th inning output by hanging up 8 more runs in the top of the 9th to take a 16-8 lead. The White Sox did manage to put up 2 runs in the 9th but it wasn't enough and they blew a 4-run lead and ended up losing 16-10, giving up 12 runs in the last 2 innings.

Overall, the Red Sox scored 16 runs on 16 hits while the White Sox scored 10 runs on 14 hits. This pitcher's nightmare was accomplished without giving up any home runs! Boston only used 3 pitchers while the White Sox sent five up to the hill. The most victimized was Chicago's Jesse Orosco who faced 8 batters - he only recorded 1 out, gave up 3 hits, walked 4, and was charged with 6 runs in 1/3rd of an inning.

No single batter had an explosive game. Boston's star was Rowland Office who was 3/6 with 4 RBI's while German Barranca led Chicago with his 3/5, 4 RBI performance.
