National League Names Rookie of Month
Thursday, May 1st, 1952

Youngster Billy Martin emerged as the latest National League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Philadelphia deserved the honor, batting .389 with 1 home run and 10 RBI. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Martin enjoy the limelight.

Warren Hacker has made fans throughout North American BaseBall League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 3-0 record. No pitcher in the American League threw better in April, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 3 starts Hacker compiled a 1.67 ERA, putting up a 3-0 record, striking out 15 and tossing 27 innings.
