COLD CREEK SURGES AHEAD OF ELNORA IN RU EAST
In a remarkable month the Cold Creek Catamounts surged past Elnora in the Ruthlandian East by two games... the 'Cats trailed by six games at the end of July, but mounted a terrific 23-5 record to move past the All-Stars, which were only 15-13 for the month... third place Sugar Valley also notched a 15-13 mark and is six games behind the Catamounts... Cold Creek's superb pitching got even better as all four starters now have ERAs under 3.00... but the big bats of Elnora are still in the hunt and will not go down without a fight.

STILL 3-WAY FIGHT IN RU WEST
Three clubs are still tightly bunched in the Ruthlandian West pennant chase... preseason favorite Fort Benton climbed into first place on the strength of a 17-11 month, slipping by second place Colfax and third place Sligo by one and two games respectively... the Blasters were 18-10 in August, while former leader Sligo slumped a bit with a 13-15 record... the Rovers went into August with a one-game margin over the Defenders and four in front of the Blasters... the experts are saying this one is too close to call and could go down to the final day of the season.
