Reds Earn Way Back to Series
Game 5 heads back to Cincinnati where the Mets would send Pascual Perez against Cincinnati’s ace Bill Gullickson. In the end, The Reds proved too much for the Mets and won 5-3 to earn a trip to the World Series against the defending champion Seattle Mariners. The big inning was the bottom of the 6th when some small ball by Cincinnati plated 3 runs off of some walks, and error, a sacrifice fly, and a single by George Foster. Bill Gullickson earns the the NLCS MVP with his 2 starts. Gullickson started 2 games earning 1 win and a no-decision. He pitched 14 innings with a 1.93 ERA while striking out 17 batters.
