I do it John's way myself but another possible way is to retire the player, turn him into a coach, name hm the mgr of whatever team then unretire the player and put him back on the team. The only thing i hate with player mgrs is they tend to get fired on bad teams quickly then i have to put them back on that team since the player version is still there especially under reserve clause era. It's on my wishlist for Markus to fix this.
