3/3/11: Madison and Austin Agree to Trade
Madison and Austin announced some roster changes today as the Mallards acquired 28-year-old left fielder John Thomas and 25 year old minor league second baseman Carlos Garcia from the mystics in exchange for 26 year old first baseman Andres Ayala. Representatives from both teams say they are pleased with the deal.
Thomas has a career .265 batting average and .309 on base percentage. He has recorded 243 hits with 38 doubles, 6 triples, 20 homers, 107 RBIS and scored 93 runs since coming into the league.
********
The fan’s certainly did not care for this deal, fan interest went in the tank, dropping from 96 to 91. I certainly didn’t see that coming. Thomas gives me that utility outfielder who can cover any position respectably is decent with the bat. He is also a better influence in the clubhouse. The addition of Garcia was a filler, at best will get a cup of coffee in the majors.
