A little more research shows that, according to SABR Researcher Merritt Clifton, the team was mainly comprised of "teenagers from the deep south, away from home for the first time and miserable. Their lineup changed from day to day and week to week as players steadily defected and were replaced."
One of the players who supposedly made an appearance with the team was Ferguson "Hershey" Jenkins, father of the Hall of Fame pitcher. With such a fluid roster, however, it's going to be tough to ID the photo unless we can find a copy with a caption. |
