2037 IPA PRO CUP FINALS
WALESKA WOPS SAN ALEJO 7-4 IN PRO CUP OPENER
In the first game of the 2037 IPA Pro Cup Finals at the Casa de Beisbol in San Alejo, the visiting Waleska Westerners drew first blood with a 7-4 triumph over the hometown Montaneros... LF Frenchy Lefoeuf (.358) had 4 hits in 5 at-bats and drove in 3 runs to lead the way... starter Terry Richards (4-1/2.82) had a rough outing, but he came away with the win... Richards allowed 10 and 4 runs, while walking 4 and fanning 7 in 7 innings... Nils Neilsen logged his third postseason save with 2 runless innings... the Westerners backed them up with 3 double plays to thwart San Alejo... Montanero starter Tommy Smith (3-1/3.29) was tagged with his first postseason loss this season... the Westerners socked him for 6 runs and 10 hits in 8 innings.
Waleska jumped off to a 4-0 lead after 4 and a half frames, but San Alejo rallied and tied it up 4-4 after 6 innings... the Westerners then put the wraps on the game with singletons in the seventh, eighth and ninth... Leboeuf scored 2 runs and had the game's only homer... 1B Monty McMurtry (.213), C Rodney Hanson (.333), SS Linton Watts (.389) and PH Pat Jancke drove in the other Westerner runs... San Alejo had 12 hits to 11 for the winners... RF Charlie Wilberforce (.298), SS Sancho Cruz (.231) and 1B Ted Hatch (.196) paced the Monties with a pair of hits each.
