Mets 1972
While contemplating the Mystery Mets player, I saw a few Mets from 1972 that were not on cards with the Mets.
Lute Barnes played 2B-SS for the Mets in 1972-73
Bob Rauch was a relief pitcher in 1972, his only year in the major leagues
Tommy Moore pitched for the Mets in 1972-73
Joe Nolan was a catcher with the Mets in 1972. He went on to a long career with the Braves, Reds, and Orioles.
Brent Strom pitched for the Mets in 1972. He was the Mets #1 pick out of USC in the 1970 draft. He was traded after 1972 to Cleveland and then San Diego. He was the 2nd pitcher ever to have "Tommy John" surgery. Strom's surgery did not work for him. People today joke that successful surgery is "Tommy John surgery" while unsuccessful surgery is "Brent Strom surgery".
