Richie Zisk & Oscar Gamble in 1977
The Pirates knew Richie Zisk would be a free agent after the 77 season so in the spring of 77 that sent him to the White Sox in exchange for Goose Gossage. For 1978, Zisk signed with the Rangers and Gossage with the Yankees.
Oscar Gamble was with the Yankees in 1976. Just before the 77 season started, he was traded to the White Sox for Bucky Dent. After the 77 season he signed a big contract with the Padres.
Together, Zisk and Gamble led the White Sox to a 90 win season and they were in the race for much of the year. Zisk hit .290 with 30 HR & 101 RBI while Gamble hit .297 with 31 HR & 83 RBI.
