Create a custom draft class using real minor leaguers
I need to know how I can create a custom draft class.
I'm up to the 2011-12 offseason in my historical league. Once I hit the end of the 2012 season, I want major changes in the league. Currently, each team has only a AAA affiliate. Everyone in the league is someone who has played in the majors IRL (with an exception of 6 fictitious players who are clones of historical players).
Once I hit the 2012-13 offseason, I want full minors. But, I want them populated with the real world minor league players.
I have a system for getting all of their ratings from a 2013 quickstart into my league. I have been currently using my own custom system for player aging. Currently, development is off and ratings are recalculated after each season. But, for players who have retired IRL, aging is on for them. I take a backup of the league, sim a year with aging on. Then, I have a system in place, using import/export rosters and Excel to transport the applicable players new OOTP generated aging into my league. I intend to use the same methodology to get the IRL minor leaguers' ratings from the quickstart into my league.
Here's what I've tried and it failed--
I created an experiment league using a backup and simmed to the end of the 2012 season. I tried taking the biographical data from the quickstart's ml_rosters.txt file, massaged the columns in Excel and tried adding all of the minor leaguers to the Master.csv file in the stats folder. I set the debutdate for everybody to be 2013, assuming that, when OOTP looked for the historical rookies to add for 2013, it would take the minor leaguers that I had added to the file.
Didn't work.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
