TU STARS TAMES RU 3-2 ON KUKK'S HIT
At Westerner Field in Waleska, the Tycobbian All-Stars snapped a two-game losing streak in the IPA All-Star Classic with a 3-2 triumph... Mikk Kukk (Mahaska) delivered the game-winning hit in the seventh, scoring Jess Wilkerson (South Fork) from second base... Tycobbia improved to 25-13 in the annual classic... the TU All-Stars rallied from an early 2-0 deficit with runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh... Kukk was voted the game's Most Valuable Player.

Tycobbian outhit Ruthlandia 10 to 6... SS Clifford Coleman (High Mesa) was the only player to get 2 hits... Clyde Engstrom (Turon) got the victory with 2 perfect innings in the fifth and sixth... J. J. Gillespie (Cold Creek) suffered the loss... he allowed 2 hits in the seventh, a double by Jess Wilkerson and Kukk's single.

The RU All-Stars took the lead in the second frame... RF Nicky Farrugia (St. John) led off with a walk against Pat Kovacs (La Claire), moved over to third on 3B Leonard Purkey's (San Dimas) single, then scored on C Brad Alexander's (Middlefield) sacrifice fly... Ruthlandian added another run off Armin Boehm (Turon) in the third when 2B Roger Hobbs (Sugar Valley) beat out a bunt, advanced to second on a groundout, stole third, and was driven in by RF Foxy Fuchs' (Claxton) base hit.

Tycobbia finally got things going offensively in the fifth frame against Dave Gronkowski (Valka), scoring on singles by 1B Stan Ferguson (Cape Coral), CF Eric Kusek (Fairfax) and SS Clifford Coleman (High Mesa), cutting it to 2-1 in favor of Ruthlandia... a single by C Filipe Zamora (San Alejo) and an RBI double by LF Spade Weldon (Tuckanarra) off Frankie Moreland (Far Mountain) tied it up at 2-all in the sixth.
