2038 IPA FINAL 4 SERIES
Ruthlandian Union
REDHAWKS BLANK BLASTERS AGAIN, LEAD 3-1
Great pitching has put dark horse Far Mountain in the driver's seat in the Ruthlandian championship series... for the second day in a row the Redhawks whitewashed the hard-hitting Colfax Blasters... Chad Cummings and Paul Young teamed up to shut them out 2-0 in game four to give Far Mountain a three games to one advantage in the best-of-seven series... one more Redhawk triumph and it's on to the IPA Pro Cup Finals.
Cummings (1-1/1.06) tossed 8 impressive innings, fanned 2 and walked one, while giving up 6 base hits, all singles... Young got the save when he set down the Blasters in order in the ninth... Colfax starter Ray Maxon stood out, too, with a complete game... he limited the Redhawks to just 2 runs on 8 hits with 3 walks and 5 Ks... the high-potent Blasters' offense has only scored 4 runs in the 4 games so far and has been shut out in back-to-back games.
In the second frame singles by 1B John Burrell (.216) and Wes Wernstedt (.268) put runners on the corners with one out... the Redhawks took a 1-0 lead when C Lou Ranson (.237) hit into a fielder's choice... Ranson finished the scoring for the day with a solo homer in the fifth frame... Wernstedt had a perfect day at the plate with 4 hits in 4 at-bats... Colfax was led by SS Gerry Sives (.323) with 2 hits.

In game four at Capitol Park Stadium in La Claire, the North Hills Hawks combined good pitching, good hitting and good defense to top the Lynx 5-3 and tie the Tycobbian title series at two games apiece... RF Rice (.257) led the Hawks' 11-hit attack with 2 RBIs and 2 runs...
