2017 World Series - Colorado Rockies vs. Detroit Tigers



Game 1 - Colorado wins 14-4
Game 1 of the World Series saw the Rockies explode against SP Michael Pineda as they chased him after just 1.1 innings. In the bottom of the first the Rockies loaded the bases for 1B Anthony Rizzo who hit a sacrifice fly to score Jose Soto. C Stryker Trahan back from the DL was unable to hit a fly deep enough to score another run but RF Carlos Gonzalez had his back as he hit a 3 run home run to give the Rockies an early 4-0 lead. The Rockies up 6-0 scored 6 more in the bottom of the 5th including a 444 foot grand slam from LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya and 1B Anthony Rizzo followed up with a bomb of his own. The Rockies made it look easy in game 1.

Game 2 - Colorado wins 10-5
Game 2 was another offensive show at home for the Rockies, as they scored 4 in the bottom of the 2nd to go up 5-0. The Tigers were able to score 1 in the 4th and 3 in the 6th to make 5-4 but the Rockies scored each inning in the 6th, 7th, and 8th to put the game away.

Game 3 - Colorado wins 3-2
After an offensive show of 24 runs in 2 games at home the series moved to Detroit where game 3 was a pitching duel. Rookie pitcher Bryant Reed got the better of Francisco Liriano as he gave up 1 run less giving up 2 runs in 7 innings. The Rockies won this game putting them up 3 games to zero and on the verge of another world series title.

Game 4 - Detroit wins 4-2
Game 4 was another pitcher's duel early as neither team could get on the board till the 6th when the Rockies got a 2 run Home Run from Stryker Trahan. The Tigers though got to Jose Fernandez in the 7th when with one out they got a walk followed by 3 singles and a sac fly to score 3 in the inning. The Tigers who survived elimination in the ALCS survived elimination to force a game 5.

Game 5 - Detroit wins 7-5
The Rockies got off to a good start in game 5 going up 3-0 after 3 innings. A triple and a sac fly in the 4th by Tigers CF Austin Meadows scored 1 to make it 3-1. The Rockies were able to add on 2 in the 6th inning but the Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the inning scoring 5 including a grand slam from Alex Avila. One more run in the 7th gave them a 7-5 lead and the bullpen put the game away.

Game 6 - Colorado wins 9-5
Rookie Bryant Reed continued to pitch well in the postseason as he gave up 1 earned and 2 unearned runs in 5.2 innings. The Rockies struck early before handing it over to their bullpen. After 6 the Rockies were up 9-2. 1B Anthony Rizzo had a big game as he was 2-4 with 5 RBI's including a 5th inning Grand Slam.

The win in game 6 gave the Rockies their 3rd World Series title heading into 2018 we will see what decisions they have to make this offseason.
