Offseason update #1
November 25th, 2018
It is officially free agency filing day and before we look at some of the top free agents lets see what the Rockies did to this point.
Arbitration
The Rockies only had 4 players up for arbitration and no pending free agents.
SP Kevin Gausman - was not offered arbitration and let go into free agency
SP Drew Pomeranz - was offered $8,500,000 but won his case getting $10,625,000 on the season
3B Rosell Herrera - was arbitration eligible but instead the Rockies signed him to a 5 year extension worth $19,820,000 a steal for a player of his caliber.
CF Jose Soto - Also signed a contract extension instead of arbitration as he sign for 4 years and $42,120,000. Soto as a lead off hitter had an OBP of .385.
Even with the signings the Rockies still have $32,850,000 in budget room for this year and $25,665,000 for next season and extensions.
While it has been an uneventful month in the offseason money wise there was a lot to talk about when it came to the yearly awards. Rockies players will be highlighted in bold among the winners.
