Three more IPA greats got the call from the Islandian Pro Alliance Hall of Fame recently and were told of their elections. Darryl Alston, Joe DeLucca and Bobby Dorignac will be officially inducted into the special ceremonies in September. These three standouts will increase the number to 56 players, 20 of them pitchers.
Darryl Alston was a slugging outfielder for the Eastshore Elegants and High Mesa Cowboys from 2002 to 2021, pretty much splitting his career between the two clubs. He is sixth on the all-time home-run list with 568. In his career Alston batted .284 with 2322 hits and 1644 RBIs in 2609 games. He retired at age 41.
Joe DeLucca was a seven-time All-Star and a four-time Golden Glove winner with a lifetime .304 batting average and 3252 hits in over 2700 games with 1812 runs, 1508 RBIs and 320 stolen bases. He played for three teams from 2013 to 2032 with his biggest impact early in this career with Volusia. DeLucca retired when he was 38.
Bobby Dorignac ranks eleventh in all-time wins with a 315-228 record with a great 2.96 ERA... he played his entire career with the Midway Wolves from 2021 to 2038. In 2024 at age 23 Dorignac put up a 27-8 record with a magnificent 1.65 ERA to take the Tycobbian Most Valuable Player Award and the Golden Arm Award.
